Nitin, over years at Agile India, we have had multiple discussions around this topic. Gurus like Linda Rising and Mary Poppendeick and several others have discussed on mindset. What would be interesting to the audience is to describe a given problem that you faced, and how you tried to address it using some existing means, and where were the gaps in the results; and then what else did you do to bridge the gap...what were the key learnings from mindset and culture viewpoint, etc., what were the challanges faced, how dod you go about addressing them, and finally what were the measurable results? These would be more tangible takeaways for the attendees since the general attendee to Agile India is reasonably well-versed with the theory aspects.

      Hi Tathagat,

Totally Agree. I will change the flow as you suggested. Please see below and let me know if this looks good.

I would first set the context, talk about relationship between Mindset, culture, Behaviors and Habits and then talk about how we are bringing in the change. Problems we are facing, How we tried to solve it ( without focusing much on mindset and culture), how we targeted some key behaviors on the ground and what benefits it is bringing in.

        Hi Nitin,

If we have to make this session something valuable to our community, need experience from trenches. The challenges which you might have faced on set of attitudes supporting an agile working environment, what you tried and related outcomes.

        Cheers

          Hi Prasad,

yes, That's exactly the idea. I have faced so many challenges w.r.t mindset and culture change. And how I have been able to overcome them will be main part of my talk. The ideas which we are implementing now is really making an impact and has shown greater benefits on outcome.

Applying Agile is a mindset change rather than a process change as compared to traditional methods. Some of the typical challenges faced by teams in the Industry while practicing Agile are:

    • Limited experience with agile
    • Slowing down of work due to limited access to Product Owner
    • Incomplete\less detailed user stories leading to high onshore dependency
    • Struggle to keep momentum with continuous churn of agile events through active participation and to maintain quality of artifacts (backlog, burndown, impediment list, retrospective action log)

These challenges manifold when delivery teams within the Industry are practicing distributed agile at scale. In the last couple of years within the IT industry we are seeing the infusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The question which come up is, Can AI help to address some of the above challenges?

At Accenture, we have introduced virtual Agile agent that resides in our intelligent automation platform, Accenture myWizard®; The virtual agent uses set of AI technologies to collaborate with their human co-workers to help address above mentioned challenges. It monitors numerous aspects of Agile development projects—consisting of requirements, releases, metrics and resources—alerting the team of any potential issues and providing possible solutions.

The experiments with People and Projects so far clearly articulates that the Agile Maturity is not about the process or engineering practices but behaviours.

Agile way of working can be made sustainable only by putting the values and principles into the regular practices.

Hence there is a need for a structured model to cultivate the Agile Mindset across the Organisation through a slow, but steady pace on the right track.

The Agile coaches to apply 'Conscious Coaching' style to empathise and empower the Teams by positioning 'Mindset' as the driving factor for Agility or Agile Maturity. Here is the URL for the same.
