Raytheon Agile Deployment for Large DoD Programs

Raytheon is implementing Agile techniques, mainly Agile Scrum, for many of its current and future DoD programs across the Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Business Area. All of these programs are unique in terms of where they are in the “Life Cycle”, who their customers are and what tools and languages they are working in. Many are large and have numerous developers and customers across multiple sites. Needless to say it is a challenge to change the development and thought process for managers, developers and customers alike from traditional Waterfall to Scrum.   For many programs there are multiple customers who need to be satisfied. Raytheon has developed an approach for creating this transformation which includes support in terms of Learning, Facilities, Tools and Process. This presentation will share some of the challenges we have faced, how we addressed them, opportunities going forward and lessons learned. The vast majority of the presentation will be taken from a similar presentation done for IBM Innovate 2014.
