Waterfall is not always successful, but that counts for agile too. I use some CHAOS figures (agile and traditional) from the Standish Group to justify. In this session I show that it’s not that black and white to choose for agile or waterfall. I will compare a project manager and the project organization in an agile world and in a traditional world and show how e.g. PRINCE2 Agile uses the agilometer to decide how much to be used from agile practices or not. I will look at traditional and agile leadership using Turn the ship around from David Marquet. I will go into the differences between an traditional organization and an agile organization using Business Agility from scrum.org and The five trademarks of agile organizations from McKinsey, and John P. Kotter, XLR8 - Accelerate with his dual system. I will make a comparison between teams (ad hoc, structured, self organizing) and I finish with the differences between agile and traditional organizational cultures based on The Scrum Culture from Dominik Maximini and The DNA of strategy execution from Jack Duggal.
