There might be more to being a full stack developer than you realize, because you're hampered by the ultimate legacy system: yourself. See the pragmatic approach it takes to succeed at software development despite our own limitations, biases, and accidents of history and complexity. Join Andy Hunt, one of the 17 authors of the Agile Manifesto, as he reveals secrets from The Pragmatic Programmer (the best-selling, most-recommended book on software developer) and Pragmatic Thinking & Learning.

1. What got you started/interested in modern software development methods?

Working with clients in the 90's and noticing that many teams were not doing well, and that they were (mostly) making the same mistakes. We've gotten better. but it still seems that many teams are trying to eat soup with a fork. There are better ways.

2. What do you think is the biggest challenge faced by the software product engineering community today?

Misunderstanding how to create software, misunderstanding the skills and environment that's needed and getting executive support to do it.

3. What do you think are the most exciting developments in software product engineering today?

New languages that solve some of the problems of old languages.

4. Why did you choose the topic(s) you will be speaking about at the conference?

No matter how much technology changes, us humans are the same. We haven't changed in tens of thousands of years, and probably should.
