Startups have been and will be a big factor in powering India to be a $5 trillion economy. Startups have a need to grow the customer base, product offerings, scale their technology and grow the teams. Succeeding in all of these parameters in a rapidly evolving environment is what makes startups successful. Agility enables startups to conquer these challenges. An agile culture is very important for successful Agility. The 3 pillars of building such a culture are alignment of goals, decentralised decisioning to attain those goals and a continuous feedback loop on decisions’ outcomes.
1. What got you started/interested in modern software development methods?
Relatively, software engineering is a young industry and hence there is still lot of scope in improving the software development methods. Software product competition can be compared with high stakes premium sports. Difference between the winners and losers are razor thin and will be < 5%. This razor thin edge is significantly influenced by modern software development methods and hence very interesting to learn and master.
2. What do you think is the biggest challenge faced by the software product engineering community today?
Everything is possible technologically, and is also possible in numerous ways, thus greatly reducing entry barriers for innovation. This makes it flat and enhances the competition amongst products and companies. This is exciting and also the biggest challenge to constantly differentiate, maintain the differential lead and winning markets.
