Why you’re not getting value out of scaled agile (and how to fix it)
Your organization has ventured into agile and you have one or more agile teams. You may have experimented with additional coordination layers like programs, or portfolios.
But you’re not seeing the business outcomes everyone had hoped for. And stakeholders are getting restless.
You want to add value at scale while avoiding excessive overhead. But what you have in place isn’t quite working. And you’re wondering what to try next.
This discussion will cover some typical issues that organizations face when shifting to a scaled agile model for creating value in complex environments.
Outline/Structure of the Workshop
- Volunteers share their challenges and context with the group
- Presenter shares a brief overview of typical hurdles and ways to overcome them, such as misaligned expectations, firefighting, rapidly shifting priorities, and process gaps that impact success.
- Group discussion and brainstorming session around a few of the additional challenges that were raised
By the end of this session, change agents will have better clarity around the pitfalls they may encounter so they can avoid or overcome them.
People working in organizations transitioning to agile at scale, but not seeing the business outcomes they had hoped for. The examples may be especially helpful for people working in nonprofits, government, and purpose-driven companies.
Prerequisites for Attendees
Session participants should be familiar with frameworks for scaling agile. Experience applying them could be helpful but isn’t required.
