Aisyah will be presenting the following session
Aisyah Dzulqaidah - Cloud Based Mobile Application Testing with AppiumAisyah DzulqaidahTEST ENGINEERBBM
schedule 3 years agoSold Out!
Testing our mobile application using real device is not scalable and need high maintenance. As the test is bigger , we need to make our test is parallel to make it faster and efficient. We also need to test it agains many variety of device and OS version. Running testing using device cloud is the solution, so in this session I will show you how to setup and run parallel automation testing using Android device emulator and iOS simulator. In this case, I wil show the demonstration using Genymotion Cloud, Appium, and Robot Framework.
1. What got you started/interested in Testing?
I got to know testing since I got my first professional job as Quality Assurance Engineer. I choose this path because I never learned it specifically in my university, so I'm curious about this. In the beginning, I thought it's only a labor work. In my first company there was no automation for doing the testing job, it's fully manual. After I know about automation test, it opened my mind about testing. It really helped me to ensure the quality of the product and find regression bug without doing the test repetitively every release. There are also still many challenges in automation test, so it's still interesting field.
2. What has been your best moment/highlight working with Appium?
The best moment is when I know that Appium is enabling us to do parallel test across devices. As the test case is bigger and bigger, we need to make it parallel. Appium made it simple and because I use Robot Framework it is easier for me and my team to create parallel automation job. We also can do it both platform, for Android and iOS.
3. What do you think is the biggest challenge faced by Mobile Testers today?
I think the biggest challenge is how we can keep up to date to the growth of mobile development, defining the optimum test strategy against it. I found it hard to fully automate the testing job and how we can increase the test coverage.
4. What is your advice to testers, who are new to automation?
Don't give up quickly and don't be satisfied quickly. You can find and do many things in automation.
5. Tell us about the session/s you will be presenting at the conference and why did you choose those topics?
I will give a demonstration about how we can enable parallel mobile automation testing in cloud. As we know, testing mobile application using real device is not scalable and need high maintenance. As the test is bigger , we need to make our test is parallel to make it faster and efficient. We also need to test it against many variety of device and OS version.
By using cloud devices, we can increase the scalability and also reduce maintenance cost of using real device. It's actually simple and really helps my team a lot so I want to share with the community.
6. What are some of the key takeaways from your session/s?
The key takeaways are how parallel test can be done on cloud devices using appium.
7. Which are your favourite sessions at Appium Conf? (Sessions that you are looking forward to attend)
I am looking forward to attend Jonah Stiennon session, All Desired Capabilities. I haven't explored all the appium capabilities. I am eager to know how we can use those capabilites correctly and when we should use it. I also see his proposal detail that he will introduce novel ways to classify, visualize, and organize all of the desired capabilities.
8. Any personal message/remarks you want to share with the Testing community in India?
I can't wait to wait to meet you all. Sharing and discussing area what makes us strong.
