Agile for Newbies how to get you mind set right to adapt to the changing environmnet

Session designed to teach agile newbies how to adapt to the changing and often daunting environment of dealing with agile for the first time. How your mindset makes a difference and how to accept that mistakes are going to be made and that no one is perfect.

Participants will be reminded what its like to leave their comfort zone and how to adjust to the 'madness' of working in a fast paced new environment.

Outline/Structure of the Hands on Session

Begin by building context around a new environment. Starting by asking participants can they remember the last time they had to learn something new but were completely out of their depth?

Second question will centre around who feel confident most of the time but would like to know how to deal with being taken out of their comfort zone? both questions are close ended and are the first things asked of participants, before any greeting at all. Next I will introduce myself and establish how I've earnt the right to be there presenting and move on to context.

Context of the session will be to explain that the session is to make mistakes and take away some tools to help them deal with challenging scenarios. Participants are thanked regularly and presentation is delivered with as many questions as possible to get participants thinking. Each contribution by way of a question or an answer is thanked. This is designed to speak to participants subconscious to encourage thinking about their own situation and the material being covered, instead of being spoken to.

Activity - 5 min duration will centre around taking participants out of their comfort zone.

This will then be followed up with debriefing questions followed by stories of having left my own comfort zone and the theory of how I deal with it.

Unconditional Self Acceptance - introduced and how to establish it removing the need for self esteem

Challenging irrational beliefs that hold us back and make the strange and new environments so much more daunting.

Session concludes with simple exercises and questions to develop an agile, reality based way of viewing the world and the challenges within it.

Learning Outcome

At the end of this session participants will be more empowered to understand the challenges of an agile environment and how to make themselves more agile and amenable to change in the process.

Workplace wellbeing is the new workplace safety, and a holistic outlook to managing wellness will not only improve engagement, it will drive productivity and create a winning environment.

Today's ever-changing work environment puts a lot of strain on individuals. Whether it is coping with long commutes, managing stress in the workplace, or disrupted sleep from constantly being 'switched on', work has an impact on both the physical and psychological well-being of every individual.

While the existence of workplace stress is acknowledged in most organisations, current efforts often place the burden of responsibility with the individual; overlooking the actual cause. Health and well-being are largely seen as a private matter of individual choice.

In this presentation, you will discover how to improve your well-being and resilience, and at the same time, improve your performance and productivity.
