Product Owners: Are you ready to ride on AI wave?
Today, everyone’s talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it’s going to change the way we conduct business, and live our lives, forever.
In fact, it’s shaping up to be the single biggest technology revolution the world has ever seen. It’s a completely new factor of production, capable of driving business growth by augmenting natural human expertise, taking automation to new places, and diffusing innovation throughout society.
Interestingly, customer experience is one of the most disruptive area by AI as AI has already proven that it has potential to enhance customer experience extensively across industries.
A new cohort of AI-first businesses is flowing into the market. As many as three-quarters of the executives say that some kind of AI will be actively implemented in their organization within three years. It’s happening because AI technologies are finally hitting the mainstream. McKinsey estimates AI techniques have the potential to create between $3.5 T to $5.8 T in value annually across nine business functions in 19 industries. At the same time, another study conducted by Accenture indicates 53% of all companies are in pilot mode or early stage AI adoption mode and not yet reaping benefits. From the early stages of AI adoption and beyond, many companies are either stopped in their tracks or slowed due to several obstacles that range from data to talent, to the technologies themselves. When addressed, each of these perceived stumbling blocks can also be a key enabler of AI benefits. Through this topic, we would like to talk about “talent” as an obstacle. Talent which can visualize & drive implementation of next generation product and services that are infused with AI and how Product Owners can be readied to fulfill this asks! We will spread awareness on following queries among Product Owner community:
• Do you understand what AI is?
• How product owners can contribute to the success of AI?
• What it can do, and the ethical questions it raises?
• Have we truly grasped the game-changing implications for our business, our industry and for the society we live in?
This activity cum talk is here to help answer some of these questions and more based on our own experience of accidentally crossing over the line to become Product Owners of an AI enabled delivery platform from our earlier role of Agile coaches.
