The secret sauce of Team Symphony !

The famous quote from H.E. Luccock - “No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it" strongly resonates in our mind advocating the need of building strong effective teams. Similarly, Michael Jordan once said: “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships”. Whether its a basketball ground, F1 racing pit or the battleground of infantry battalion of our army men, what are some of the common attributes of these ultra performing teams ? Going straight to the Individual and Interactions manifesto, this talk takes a deep dive on both these very important sauce ingredients of teams recipe. An Individual is a complex dynamic entity reflecting its needs, core values, belief systems and cognitive biases. Similarly, interactions represents an individual's expressions to the outer world and reinforced feedback message back to the inner self. Maslow's 5 stage model defines the 5 levels of an Individual needs and they all need to be well addressed to forum strong teams. This talk connects the Maslow's model with Patrick lencioni's 5 dysfunctions of Teams to uncover some core attributes of Team Behaviour. The cohesiveness of a team also depends on its members bonding and hence, the need of understanding the basic personality type before applying the common vanilla norming. We will be leveraging and exploring the Myers-Briggs Dichotomies to uncover 16 types of personalities and sharing some Agile games on ice breaking and reflecting. More to come with this Talk..

I like these aspects of the submission, and they should be retained:

    • energy of the sampe video

I think the submission could be improved by:

    • Deep Dives on two topics in 45 minutes seems a bit ambitious. Sounds more like 1 slide per topic. Could this be an interactive, 90 minute workshop? Maybe focusing on just "individuals" or "interactions"?

Hi Peter, thank you for the valuable comments. We are good for the 90 mins workshop. With individuals and interactions, we would like to cover the important aspects needed for bringing up the performance and energy in Teams.

If timing sounds a concern for both deep dives, we would prefer going for Deep Dive on Individuals as that is also a core base for interactions.

Hi Lalita, are you changing the format to 90 minutes? The metadata still says 45. Of course it's your call!.

Could you confirm that you have made whatever changes to the proposal that you intend to make?

        Thanks!

Hi peter - we are thinking to elaborate on individualsAspect for 45 mins.

We have uploaded the refined deck with slides. 2 slides in that are WIP. However the uploaded deck should give you a better idea about story line , flow and key learnings.

      further suggestion:

The abstract needs be much shorter and to the point. Why should I care about this issue? What will the benefit of attending this session?

The whole aspect of agility sits on a very important base of "Healty" team culture that strikes for high value results. We should care for this topic deeply because unless we make and strive to build high performing teams, we are really not making a long run sustainable change in the organization. It starts right with the people.

Hi Lalita and Amol, thank you for submitting this session to RSGI 2019.  Session seems to be very informative covering many key concepts!

    Few thoughts from my end-

    • Do you think all the concepts mentioned in the outline of the talk can be presented in 45 mins ?
    • Is it possible to present this talk by taking examples of few scenarios where you have applied the mentioned concepts and why, what were the key challenges and learnings, and how did they help?

    Thank you!

Dear Madhavi - Thank you for the great feedback and yes , we target to cover these in 45 mins. Some topics that are more common, we may take limited time. The idea is to present a big picture focus on individual and interactions then take straight to examples from real life examples. You can say as case study. The idea is to it well connecting to attending audience. Highly Appreciate your suggestion. Will also share a mind map and few slides that will help your team with better clearity.
