Impact of Scrum Master's Personality on project success

The Scrum Master plays an important role in directly impacting direction, progress and ultimately the success of a project. The Scrum Master is expected to play the roles of a process owner, problem solver and protector in a project and these require them to showcase certain capabilities and actions during the lifetime of the project. The personality of the individual playing the role of the Scrum Master has a huge impact on playing these roles which will ultimately impact project success. I will discuss the 'Big 5 personality traits' and critically examine how these traits will impact the effectiveness of a Scrum Master in an Agile project.

    Hi Rupesh,

The topic looks interesting, but I would like to see the list of personality traits that you will focus on. If you could share a rough draft of the presentation, that would be perfect.

    thanks,

    Sanjay

      Hi Sanjay,

Thank you very much for the comments. I have updated my proposal by adding a draft set of slides with a few notes on what I want to cover under each personality trait. Let me know your thoughts.

      Regards,

      Rumesh

Is this the right video? The featured presenter is not the submitter of this proposal. Is this content from you, Rupesh or from Krystian Kaczor?

          Hi Peter,

Apologies, I thought I had to upload any video relevant to the topic and hence put that link. I have not done a speech on the topic of personality but have lectured on the same plus written articles on the topic. I can create a quick video ( 2 to 3 minutes) and then upload the same. Let me know whether this is still possible to do and whether the chance to do a speech at the conference still exists.

          Thanks,

          Rumesh

              Hi Peter,

I created a video at home and uploaded the same to my YouTube channel. I have shared the link here. It is not a perfect video as I do not have proper facilities, background nor the support at my home to do a proper video. Sincerely hope that I did enough to at least give the gist of my 20-minute speech. The actual speech will consist of a better structure in terms of linking my interpretation of the Big 5 personality traits to the actual definition along with more examples from situations in projects.

              Regards,

              Rumesh
