Outline/structure of the Session

1 - 6 minutes: Introduction - welcome, purpose of the game, forming into teams

7 - 12 minutes: Explanation of the rules

13 - 22 minutes: Practice run and clarification of the rules

23 - 32 minutes: Sprint 1 - Sequential workflow with pure specialisation

33 - 34 minutes: Sprint 1 retrospective

35 - 44 minutes Sprint 2 - Introducing T-shaped people and collaboration

45 - 46 minutes: Sprint 2 retrospective

47 - 56 minutes: Sprint 3 - Refining collaboration 

57 - 58 minutes: Sprint 3 retrospective

59 - 68 minutes: Sprint 4 - Introducing WIP limits

69 - 70 minutes: Sprint 4 retrospective

71 - 80 minutes: Sprint 5 - Refining WIP limits

81 - 90 minutes: Overall retrospective

Learning Outcome

Increased understanding of how agile teams collaborate, including the value of developing cross-functional teams of T-shaped people instead of maintaining functional silos, and focussing on the flow of work rather than utilisation rates.
