When you say a word repeatedly it will soon lose its meaning. The term "Discovery" is used so loosely that it's really now just another keyword you can drop in your next job interview with the agile consultancy down on the corner. But what's all the hype about? Haven't we always done some kind of discovery?

This talk will present an overview of a Discovery Practice at REA Group, the journey thus far, and outline a point of view on how discovery can work most effectively in contemporary product development.

The practice uses a combination of Objectives & Key Results (OKRs), contemporary user experience design techniques and some of the most fundamental agile concepts to understand the real-world problems that users have, prioritise them against other initiatives, and find the best solutions to them, before wasting time and money on delivering mediocre products.
