Creating clarity and focus in changing a large enterprise - Workshop

This workshop is for agile leaders assisting large organisations to shift towards a highly engaged, autonomous working
environment.

Using a simple model and supporting canvas, participants will learn to use a systematic approach for creating clarity and focus on the transformational activities an organisation decides to pursue.

I will briefly introduce a simple organisational model about how we work and how we engage our people and teach participants how to use it in evaluating their own working environment and decide on impactful changes.

 
 

Outline/Structure of the Workshop

Handouts provided to attendees for exploration and prompting questions. 1) Introduction to the How and Who
organisational model - 10 mins
Break into groups of 3-4 (1 Interviewee and 2-3 consultants)
2) Round 1 - Explore the Interviewee's work environment & Make recommendations (20 mins) - This activity is supported
with a prompting questions handout
3) Round 1 - Interviewee present transformation recommendations to another group (10 mins) - This activity is run as a
ritual dissent session
4) Round 1 - Debrief (5 mins)
5) Round 2 - Explore the Interviewee's work environment & Make recommendations (15 mins) - This activity is supported
with a prompting questions handout
6) Round 2 - Interviewee to present recommendations to another group (10 mins) - This activity is run as a ritual dissent
session
7) Round 2 - Debrief (10 mins)

Learning Outcome

  • Attendees will have learnt a conceptual model for how an organisation works.
    This includes "How work gets done", but also how we "engage Who does the work".
  • They will learn how the model has been used at Boral and how it can be used in their own context to decide on their own transformational activities.
  • They will see how this model has been used at Boral to strategically pick the key environmental changes we have made based on our current environment.

Target Audience

Leaders/Coaches that are involved with deciding how to shift an organisation to build autonomy and engagement

Prerequisites for Attendees

Attendees should have had some experience in a leadership role in an agile transformation having either driven or advised about the changes a company/team should make.
Broad knowledge about different Agile Frameworks and Agile at Scale patterns will also be beneficial.
