The Improv of Agile
The Four Rules of Improv that Tina Fey delivered in her best-selling book, Bossypants, serve as the inspiration for this workshop. We will explore these four rules and why they’re invaluable in cultivating and reinforcing Agile mindset and achieve sustainable agility. In this experiential workshop, we will pair each rule with an activity that illuminates the rule while connecting it to specific Agile principles and scenarios.

Outline/Structure of the Workshop
Brief overview of principles and values of agility -- not just traditional Agile manifesto -- and understand the context of Lean + Agile (about 10 minutes) +
15 minutes: rule + activity + activity debrief/aha moments
x 4 (so 60 minutes for 4 rules) +
15 minutes: holistic debrief and call for action
- better understanding that teamwork and collaboration habits need to be cultivated, not assumed to be in existence
- establish fluency in 1-4 experiential learning activities can be immediately incorporated by participants in their workplaces
- understand that using games or activities in Agile efforts can start small and simple for maximum ROI
Change agents and catalysts who want to create environment where people and teamwork can be their best
Prerequisites for Attendees
Agile mindset. Be willing to explore and understand the principles of agility beyond the worlds of IT, Scrum and/or Kanban.

Unlike a factory, where we can see work literally moving around, piling up waiting, being worked on, or even deteriorating with time, knowledge workers have to deal with abstract constructs that are largely invisible. Suddenly, answering questions like "what are we working on?" or "how does work get done here" can become tricky.
The basic premise that the first step towards effectively managing knowledge work is to make it visible will not come as a surprise for anyone with some familiarity with Agile. That said, there's more to effective work visualization than a 3-column board showing "To Do | In Progress | Done" columns, and visualizing work items is only the first step.
This session will explore approaches for visualizing otherwise invisible aspects of work, such as commitments, process, rules and, of course, work items, and using them to enable more effective management and collaboration.
