Awais Sheikh is a Business Process Lead Engineer for the Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Corporate Technical Center in The MITRE Corporation. Mr Sheikh’s focus is on applying lean and agile business process methodologies in the public sector. In his support of the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HS SEDI), a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) managed by MITRE, Mr. Sheikh led a cross-functional team of systems engineers and agile coaches in supporting the Chief Information Officer of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services in the adoption of agile and lean methods across the enterprise. He also supported the Center for Veteran Enterprise Transformation (CVET) where he served as the Business Process Lead to analyze and develop a future state concept for the enterprise appeals lifecycle for Veterans.

Prior to joining MITRE, Mr. Sheikh supported a variety of civilian agencies in various business process transformation efforts. Mr. Sheikh supported the Federal Aviation Administration Financial Systems Portfolio in the establishment of a portfolio planning and execution process as well as provided input into the design of the agile systems engineering lifecycle processes. Mr. Sheikh also served as a Program Manager in support of the National Park Service. In this role, he led the analysis and redesign of personnel security processes and led the automation of key human resource functions using agile methodologies while serving a scrum master.
