With 30 years of experience I have had good learning experiences in my career though a variety of roles - starting as a Developer. I am currently with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in their Consulting line of business. I have provided advisory services to global organizations such as American Express Bank, British Telecom, Marks and Spencer, Target, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Schlumberger and Lenovo in their transformation journeys.

Enterprise Agility is about collaboration and willingness to embrace risk, learn, improve and move forward. Transformation to Agility requires multi-dimensional changes and these changes are driven by people with the right mind set across the organization.
Typically in the early stages of a transformation people tend to be skeptical and demonstrate the 'cannot' syndrome - this cannot happen, we cannot do this and this is not the right way and so on. However leaders with positive approach and the right balance of aggression and patience can take along the onlookers and the skeptics and successfully transform towards enterprise wide Agile practices - not only in IT but also in the Business and Support functions.
My presentation identifies the 'Cannot' syndrome towards Agile and DevOps related transformation at the hierarchical layers of an organization and explores the 'Art of the Possible' to transition people to a 'We can and will do it' journey.

Any transformation is hard. Challenges come up right at the conceptual stage through the transformation journey and until measuring and declaring success. DevOps transformation is no different. However in a DevOps transformation an additional lack of understanding of its principles adds to the complexity – ‘DevOps is Continuous Integration and Deployment using a set of tools’.
While tools play a key role in realizing the benefits of DevOps, the people – leadership, middle management, teams on the ground all of them – make the journey successful. Similarly organization realignment to feature teams also supports people aspect of DevOps and its faster implementation. This presentation highlights the people aspects of DevOps implementation along with early warnings of potential impediments. It also provides tips that could help the people at different hierarchical levels of the organization to plan, measure, improve and successfully sail through the DevOps transformation.This is an experience report based on our involvement as Agile and DevOps coaches for our customers across geography in different domains.
