I taught health education for 33 years. To do that job better, I took 30 post graduate hours in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I used that training to develop The Mental and Emotional Tool Kit for Life for my students. I taught it to them for the last half of my career as a health education instructor. After retiring from the classroom, I began representing the Chicago Institute for REBT. I have since then spoken to teachers and students at schools and universities around the country, and at state and national conventions for teachers, counselors and mental health professionals about the "tool kit" approach. I advocate for teaching the "tools" to all new and current teachers, and to all our young people, starting early in age appropriate ways, and reinforcing this learning throughout their school years. I also ran "Tool Time" groups for the most troublesome students at my wife's school after retiring from the classroom. I've also written six e-books based on the "tool kit" approach, and regularly post articles that are well received on multiple networks on LinkedIn.
