After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelors of Veterinary Science, I worked as an associate veterinarian at Gladesville Veterinary Hospital. I went on to complete my residency in Medical Oncology at Cornell University, USA. I achieved Diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Oncology in 2010. She gained a position on faculty at The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor in Oncology and Hematology. I now works at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. I have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in the veterinary scientific literature, and presented research and published abstracts at various conferences.
I have also undergone special training in communication, and the impact this has on the relationship with the clients. I am particularly interested in compassion fatigue and where we can give too much of ourselves to our detriment. This is recognised in the medical professions, but can be extended to other careers.
